The Confucius Temple in Tainan was built in 1666, it was the first Confucius Temple, before the end of Manchu Dynasty, it was the location of the highest official institute of higher learning in Taiwan. The Taiwan Palace of "Confucianism Study," it owned the incompatible position of culture and education, and was called "The Highest Institute." There are fifteen structures inside the Confucius Temple, the primary sacrifices in the palace is to Confucius divine tablet, on both sides, the sacrifices are to the sixteen pupils of Confucius.

Chihkan Tower (赤嵌樓) is the oldest building in Tainan's West Central District (台南中西區), and along with Anping District's Anping Fort (安平古堡), are two of Tainan's most famous landmarks. Originally built as Fort Provintia (普羅民遮城) in 1652 by the Dutch, the building set the tone as the location of the administrative center of Tainan, and has gone through numerous repairs and refurbishments over the past 300 years to give it its current appearance.

Liuhe Night Market is Kaohsiung's oldest, most typical night market. The Market won five awards in the ROC Tourism Bureau's 2010 Unique Night Market Selection Activity: “Most Civilized”, “Most Environmentally-Friendly”, “Friendliest”, “most Charming”, and “Most Stroll-Friendly”. It cannot be missed if you want to experience Taiwan's unique night market culture!

< Lotus Pond >
Lotus Pond Scenic Area is one of Kaohsiung’s most traditional scenic areas, and was listed as one of the “Eight Sights of Fongshan” in the Qing Dynasty. There are pavilions by the beach, massive statues of gods and the “old city”, surrounded by the city wall, living settlements such as historical sites, old houses, and military dependents’ villages and you can also sample Zuoying’s rich, diverse food in the old streets and traditional markets. The Longhu Tower (Dragon Tiger Tower) is the most famous scenic spot in Lotus Pond. Constructed in 1976, the tower is seven stories tall, and the dragon and tiger doors are its entrance and exit. Its walls are decorated with koji pottery, which represent proselytizing stories, from a variety of artists. The tower’s body is connected the Nine-Turn Bridge (Jiuqu Bridge)) and is set off by the lake. There is a rule when visiting the Longhu Tower: Entering at the dragon’s mouth and exiting from the tiger’s mouth; this will allow you to avoid bad fortune and enjoy good luck. You can enjoy a 360-degree view of Lianchitan’s scenery.

< Pier-2 Art Center >
Situated in the basin No. 3 of Kaohsiung Port, it has been made into a unique open art space, providing artists and students with an environment in which to express themselves, and has already become Kaohsiung's most popular cultural spot. All kinds of art activities are held irregularly in the District, bringing a rich artistic air to the port metropolis of Kaohsiung, and also bringing a new tide of southern art in Kaohsiung. The western railway line, which previously brought goods to the docks, has now become Kaohsiung's busiest cycling trail, and amazing works of art await discovery in the District's public spaces. Visitors can also go to the Hamasen Railway Cultural Park and witness how the passage of time has affected Kaohsiung's first railway station.

< Sizihwan Bay >
Sizihwan Bay is known for its beautiful sunset and natural reefs, and the area includes scenic spots like the Siziwan Beach, Seaside Park, and the former British Consulate at Takao. You can enjoy the view of the sea, or gaze over Kaohsiung Port. The inscription on the gate of the Shaochuan artillery position, currently classes as a third-grade national heritage site reads “Kaohsiung Town North Gate”. It was built at the same time as Cihou (Qihou) Fort, to cover different fields of fire. Today, the cannons are gone- only 3 gun emplacements remain for people of the future to wonder about.

< Cijin Island >
Cijin Island is a small island in Kaohsiung, just 15-minutes ferry ride outside the famous Kaohsiung Harbour. Although it is very small, this island has become a favorite destination for those visiting the city. The island is famous not only for historical and cultural sites, but also for the fresh seafood. It really is perfect for any type of travelers; no matter if you are visiting for a hiking trip, sightseeing, cycling, photography, etc. Cijin Island has something for everyone.
